Newark Striders – Club Events

As a running club we are proud to participate in many local events and even organise the occasional one too.

If you are not yet registered for parkrun we highly recommend you do & quick! This 5K timed event is a well organised event that happens every Saturday at 09:00, there are 100’s of runs world wide that you can participate in! All you do is register with the site, once registered you will be allocated a unique barcode, bring this barcode with you to every event. On crossing the line, you will receive your position barcode, these two barcodes are matched to give you a well detailed result, including overall position, gender position, age grade and number of events participated in. We always have a good turn out, so please come along and get involved.

We are pleased to be supporting #RunAndTalk an England Athletics campaign, supported by Mind the mental health charity, to improve mental wellbeing through running and to break down the stigma associated with mental health by getting people talking about it. The event follows on from the successful #RunAndTalk event in February 2018 in support of Time to Talk Day which saw around 150 organised runs to support mental wellbeing through running.

Plogging is the Scandinavian trend of jogging whilst picking up litter. The Orange Wombles from Newark Striders Running Club are working with Newark and Sherwood District Council to bring plogging to Newark. The Orange Wombles will be plogging a couple of times a month starting from July 2018; bringing together fitness, fun and friends whilst giving back to the local community and protecting the environment!
