Cross Country Championship & Series

3 Newark Striders competed in the Notts AAA cross country county championships at Wollaton Hall on Saturday. Lewis Hopkinson finished the 5.5 mile course in 36:30, Noel Henderson in 42:12, 4th in his age group and Peter Davis 44:11 which was 3rd in age group so hopefully a bronze medal.

On to Sunday and there was a marvellous club turnout of 31 runners at Bramcote Hills for the first event of the cross country series. Whilst the course was quite dry, the clue was in the name and there were some tough uphill sections with which to contend. Times are not yet available but the finishing positions have been published.

In the women’s race Philippa Clarke was 42nd, Nicola Bradley 55th, Dawn Hollingworth 91st, Karen Illsley 210th, Chris Cregg 214th, Mary Swindles 216th, Tracey Partridge 221st, Kath Scott 223rd, Clare Stainton 226th. Lesley Butlin was 227th, Nicole Henderson 230th, Anthea Moisey 236th, Jenny Palmer 238th, Lynne Boby 242nd, Stacey Atkins 244th, Ann Clay 251st.

Jan Bailey finished 12th in the men’s event, Simon Roberts 38th, Simon Palmer 67th, David Cross 69th, Peter Davis 91st, Andrew Vosper 102nd, Gary Tasker 104th, Richard Spurr 121st, Steven Padgett 129th, Andy Scott 131st, Andy Sirrs 140th, Stephen Tomlinson 146th, Jason Priest 154th, Dan Arkwell 158th. Unfortunately Noel Henderson had to pull up during the race. Well done and thanks to Abbie & Meah Moisey and Charlotte & Emily Palmer who helped the organisers by collecting finish tokens and recording finish positions.

Steve Gurd ran in the Virtual Live 10K in Nottingham, finishing in a time of 52:15.

Well done everyone!
