Sleaford Half & Bottesford Bumble

A large contingent of Newark Striders made the trip along the A17 on a hot and sunny Bank Holiday Sunday to take part in the 2018 Sleaford Half Marathon. The temperatures weren’t helpful for distance running, but there were some new personal best times to celebrate nevertheless. A big well done to running leader Tom Marshall who finished 4th overall in a superb PB time of 1:18:27. Lewis Hopkinson was the first Strider home in 22nd place overall, completing the 13.1 miles in 1:27:23, followed by Mark Jackson, 29th finisher 1:29:01, Simon Roberts 1:29:24 PB 32nd place and Adam Clarke 1:32:55 39th place. Matt Silk 1:37:36, Peter Davis 1:44:41 first in age category, Kris Fenton 1:51:33 PB, Simon Palmer 1:51:35, Steven Padgett 1:51:35 PB, Mark Winter 1:52:23, Nige Driscoll 1:52:55, Dave Dews 1:54:17. Nick Beveridge 1:55:33, Jason Cobb 1:55:48, Simon Drury 2:05:08. The first Striders lady to cross the line was Hannah Thomson 2:09:31, followed very closely by Cate Driscoll 2:09:34 then Jacqui Jackson 2:11:47. Nicki Padgett 2:29:56, Sarah-Jane Cobb 2:30:26, Jenny Palmer 2:30:57, Holly Davis 2:37:02, Heather Green 2:37:05, Bernie Divall 2:37:05. 


Meanwhile at Bottesford, Nick Harrison, Donna Beveridge, Jason Priest and Jon Rawson Lined up in similarly hot and sunny conditions for the Bottesford Bumble 10K. This was a mixed terrain, well organised event with lovely views of the Vale of Belvoir the reward for reaching the top of a tough off road climb.
