Thoresby 10K

Today was the day for the Thoresby 10, a popular trail event with a selection of distances, so something to suit everyone. The weather conditions were ideal for running and the course was a challenging mix of trails, tracks, asphalt, grass and a bit of mud.

No Striders in the 5K this year, so straight on to the 10K event and to Sarah Fox-Clark and Ruth Tall who completed the course in 55:25 and 1:11:45 respectively. Kath Scott was the first of the four to cross the line at Thoresby in the 10 mile version, 1:57:06, followed by Lynne Boby 1:57:58, Debbie Bavin 1:57:59 and Gemma Latham 2:01:02. An official virtual race was on offer to entrants and Karen Illsley completed the 10 miles in Newark in a time of 1:42:42.On to the half marathon race and first to finish the two lap route was Nige Driscoll 1:43:28, then Steve White 1:51:37, Cate Driscoll 1:51;59, Darren Mead, 22 years after his last half marathon 1:54:15, Graham Welsh 1:59:05 and Andy Scott 2:00;26.

A word for the organisers SBR Events, who delivered an enjoyable, well organised, safe feeling and controlled event in line with restrictions. There was a super team of marshalls in support too, including Bev Hancock, Helen McGrory, Simon & Emily Palmer from Newark Striders and friends from Notfast, thanks Breeze Rowlands for the photos.Well done everyone!
